Abstract
Two clays from Cannanore district of Kerala have been assessed, both from mineralogical and ceramic point of view, with the objective of evaluating their suitability in the pottery industry. The study included the examination of the chemical, mineralogical and physicochemical characteristics of the clays. From the results it has been confirmed that these two clays can easily be used in ceramic industry where fired colour is not so important. For whiteware industry, however, it rerequires some processing or some opacifying glaze meterials.
