Abstract
Six samples of limestone were calcined at temperatures 1000°, 1050° and 111)0°C for 1 to 4 hours and the reactivity of the calcined product was tested by tlie ASTM method for slaking rate of quick lime and coarse grain acid titration method with calcined lime. The loss on ignition, porosity and bulk density were also correlated with the reactivity. The studies showed that with -10 mm of uncalcined limestone calcined at a temperature of 1000°C, a time of 2 to 3 hours was sufficient to produce a good quicklime having a good reactivity.
