Abstract
Alumina-silicon carbide-carbon based resin bonded bricks have been finding increasing applications in the field of hot metal pretreatment process in torpedo ladle worldwide. In the pretreatment process in the steel ladles, refractories are subjected to very stringent demand of performance. This process helps in the production of quality steel and is the most preferred process. The alumina-silicon carbide-carbon based refractories are suitable for the torpedo ladle as they have the best slag penetration resistance and are thus suitable for slag zone· and bottom impact zone of steel ladle. A complete study of various aspects of properties that affects the brick application has been enumerated in this paper.
