| Thermal transport in windows caused by conduction/convection
and by radiation is discussed. The reduction of thermal
losses achieved by using rare gases and low emissivity
coatings is quantified. The saving potential of evacuated
window systems is also demonstrated. Furthermore, a vari·
ety of daylighting and light switching systems fitted into
glazing elements are presented. The properties, applications
and energy saving potentials of such elements are described. |
