Abstract
The practice of steel making in the Mysore Iron & Steel Ltd., producing yearly about 50,000 tons of structural steel, is described in brief. The particulars regarding the ·special varieties of steel made have been given. In view of the aduantages over other processes, bottom pouring process is followed and favoured. The details of manufacturing pouring refractories from local clays h.ave been described. Dimensional accuracy and density of the refractories have been stressed to have important roles in their behaviour in service.
