Abstract
The influence of 0.01 to 5 wt% additions of MgO, Ti02 and Fe20 3 on the sintering behaviour and grain development of beryllium oxide was studied at temperatures between 1100° and 1500°C in vacuum and in air. Significant effect was noticed on the sintering behaviour and grain growth. Both densification and grain growth attained a maxima with MgO and Ti02 additions, the optimum value being around 1%. With Fe20 3 both the densification and grain growth seem to be directly related to the amount of additions.
