| With the advancement in the science and
technology of glass, many new glasses have
been developed which have unique properties
and satisfy the growing demands of
human needs. Photosensitive glasses are
certain glasses in which permanent photographic
images can be produced on exposure
to ultraviolet and subsequent heattreatment.
In photosensitive glasses, the
portions exposed to ultraviolet light dissolve
more quickly in acids than the unexposed
portions of the glass. Utilising these properties
of the glass, holes of almost any
size and shape can be etched in the material,
up to 50000 holes per 6.5 sq em. Fotoform
and potoform glass-ceramic products are
finding expanding uses in electronics and
fluidic devices.
