| The effect of additives on the workability and water retentivity of
cement-sand mortar has been studied by mixing 0.5 to 3.0%
tartaric acid, dextrine, ammonium chloride and sodium blearbonate
by weight of cement. Water retention values were determined
by subjecting the mixes to a vacuum of SO mm of mercury.
The percent now and water retention values were found to vary
with the quantity of additive. Tartaric acid produced a very high
water retention value and dextrine, a highly workable cement
mortar. |
