Abstract
Glass-ceramics are used in dentistry for various applications such as dental inlays, onlays, crowns, veneers, bridges, etc. Especially lithium disilicate glass-ceramics, because of their excellent aesthetics, supreme mechanical properties and ease of shaping into final restoration, are becoming a compelling material in dental prosthetics. The present work is aimed at synthesizing lithium disilicate glass-ceramics for their application as a dental restorative material. In this, effects of composition and heat treatment schedule on microstructure and phase content are investigated.
