Abstract
Chalcogenide glasses are well known for their high chemical durability and infrared transmittance. In this paper the preparation of chalcohalide xSb2Se3(1–x)CuI glass in vacuum by melt quench technique has been reported along with their thermo-physical and optical properties, and sub-micron structural features. The composition 0.4Sb2Se30.6CuI was found to be glassy showing about 75% transmission in infrared range of 10-30 m. However, the composition 0.6Sb2Se30.4CuI was nano-crystalline showing growth of nano-strips of 100-150 nm as well as nanoparticles of 50-100 nm size in the glassy matrix.
