Abstract
Chromic oxide is largely used as a green pigment in various industrial and commercial purposes, as it is the only green pigment which can withstand the Chemical reactions of both acidic and alkaline media. It is the only permanent green colour for Cements. distempers and artists paints. The other greens like Brunswick green and Mountain green are not so durable. Chromic oxide or Cr203 can also stand high temperature and for this reason it is used for colouring glass, enamels and pottery glazes. It is also used in Calico printing as it is not affected by chlorine and sulphur gases. This pigment has a good.covering power and can be mixed with other pigments without any chemical alteration.
