Abstract
Four glass compositions corresponding to Li20.Al20 3.4Si02, Li20.Al20 3.6Si02, PbO.Al20 3.2Si02, and PbO.Al20 3.6Si02, in the systems Li20-Al20 3-Si02 and Pb0- Al203-Si02 respectively were melted, and were subjected to DT A and X-ray analysis for varying heat treatment schedules, in order to observe their crystallisation behaviour. For glass compositions corresponding to PbO.Al20 3.2Si02 and PbO.Al20 3.6Si02, lead aluminium silicate (PbO .Al20 3.2Si02) was the first phase to crystallise in all cases. Whereas for the glass corresponding to Li20.Al20 3.6Si02 composition, keatite was the only predominant phase crystallised. In the case of glass composition corresponding to Li20. Al20 3.4Si02, however, keatite solid solution with possible traces of Silica-0 was present.
