Abstract
An apparatus for continuous classification of abrasive powders into various predetermined
particle size groups (grits) is described. The conventional method of e/utriation
(using water) has been modified to incorporate an agitation zone and a separation
zone in the body of the elutriator. The effect of velocity of water, degree of agitation,
rate of through-put (feed rate of solids), pulp density and the height of elutriation
column on the particle size distribution and yield of the product, have been studied.
