Abstract
Physico-chemical studies of four clay samples from different parts
of South Kerala namely (1) Mulavana, (2) Kalluvathukkal, (3)
Marthandamkonam and (4) Thonnakkal were carried out with a view
to establish their nature as well as to ascertain their utility in various
industries •. The study includes the examination of the chemical,
mineralogical and physical characteristics. The results indicate that
the samples which are essentially kaolinite in character are suitable
for ceramic, paper, textile and rubber industries.
